Are you a fan of color/non-white fan; able to get to Seattle, Washington, California’s San Francisco Bay area, or northern England; and looking to go an SFF con on relatively short notice?
Con or Bust has been donated free memberships by three cons happening in the next two months, specifically Emerald City Comicon in Seattle, Washington, from March 1-3; FOGCon in Walnut Creek, California, from March 8-10; and EightSquaredCon, The 2013 Eastercon, in Bradford, UK, from March 29-April 1. If you’re interested, read on to find out more, but even if you’re not, please spread the word—the first two cons are coming very soon and it would be a real shame to let these donations go to waste!
New: Emerald City Comicon has donated five passes for new members to Con or Bust for use by fans of color/non-white fans. It takes place from March 1-3, 2013, in Seattle, WA, and is the largest comic book and pop culture convention in the Pacific Northwest. It has several extensive lists of guests: special, celebrity, voice talent, and gaming, which include many artists, actors, writers, and other creators.
I also still have one donated membership each available for a fan of color/non-white fan to the following upcoming cons (new registration or refund):
FOGCon, March 8-10, Walnut Creek, California, “a literary-themed San Francisco SF/F con in the tradition of Wiscon and Readercon.” Its theme is Law, Order & Crime; its Honored Guests are Terry Bisson and Susan R. Matthews.
EightSquaredCon, The 2013 Eastercon, March 29-April 1, Bradford, UK. Eastercon is the UK’s annual National Science Fiction Convention. Its Guests of Honour are Walter Jon Williams, Freda Warrington, Anne Sudworth and Edward James.
Because these are available on short notice and after the usual request period, request them through this Google Docs form, first-come first-served. If you have general questions about eligibility, or are curious how the process usually works, see the request assistance page.
