Item Name & Description: Two fountain pens: (1) A mother-of-pearl-colored (NOT actual mother of pearl) Senator piston filler (model unknown) with a clear ink window. Trim exhibits substantial brassing/wear (particularly the cap band, so if you are a stickler for appearances this one may not be for you), but the rest of the pen is in good condition. Flexy 14kt gold nib, but with limited line variation; it’ll give your writing some flair, used judiciously, but is not suitable for copperplate-type hands. Approximately 13 cm capped, 11.6 cm without cap, 15 cm posted, 1.2 cm diameter at the widest point.
(2) A grey striated Webster lever filler with a clear ink window. Pen is in very good condition, including trim. Flexy 14kt gold nib, although the snapback is quite slow; also probably not suitable for copperplate-type hands. For the heck of it, I will also include the box for a completely unrelated (twist filler) Webster. Approximately 13.8 cm capped, 12.8 cm without cap, 16.1 cm posted, 1.1 cm diameter at the widest point.
Both pens will post–the Senator posts more securely than the Webster in my experience.
CAUTION: If you have never used a fountain pen before (or do not have experience with dip pens or similar), I do NOT recommend these as starter pens. The flex nibs are delicate and require a light hand. I take no responsibility for damage to the pens after they’re in your hands.
I apologize for the lack of writing samples; I don’t have a working scanner right now and if there’s a way to make my camera cough up decent close-ups, it’s news to me.
Photos: top one is the Senator, lower one is the Webster, ignore the blue Clipper (X’d out in red) that shows up in one photo because I can’t do right angles.
Starting Bid: $50 for both together.
Notes: USA only. I will ship by priority mail and include some assorted ink samples to get you started.
