Two pounds of custom chocolate truffles

Item Name & Description: Approximately two pounds of hand-made chocolate truffles from Dark Matter Chocolate Laboratory, made to your specifications. Specifications can be particular flavors, compatibility with dietary constraints, or even literary or geeky inspiration. (For example, I made Ginger Scald truffles inspired by a recipe in Lies of Locke Lamora for a Scott Lynch visit– ginger-infused dark chocolate ganache with pear brandy, dipped in dark chocolate and sprinkled with handmade caramelized ginger sugar. Crazy ideas are *totally* welcome, and if you’ve got an idea you’re wondering about the feasibility of, go ahead and ask.)

Handmade caramel, marzipan, or molded chocolates can also be substituted for truffles. Vegan truffles are available, and they do taste just as good. I’m also happy to consult with you to help you pick something you’ll be very happy with.

Starting Bid: $40

Notes: Truffles can be shipped anywhere in the continental US, although please, if you’re in a hot region, up the bid amount to justify the extra shipping costs. 😉 Delivery will default to sometime between late March and mid-April, but timing can be adjusted based on your chocolate needs.

I use no preservatives. Truffles will keep for approximately three weeks at room temperature, but can be kept (much) longer in the refrigerator or freezer. If you’re worried about not eating them in time, I can substitute for two pounds of shelf-stable bars or molded chocolates in the flavor of your choice. Geeky molds available.

A box of books and goodies from Western Massachusetts in a large priority mailer box

Item Name & Description: A box of books and goodies from Western Massachusetts in a large priority mailer box.

I loved Maria’s box of goodies from New Orleans so much that I thought it would be fun to offer this. The box will include our new Peter Dickinson kid’s book, Emma Tupper’s Diary, Eileen Gunn’s new collection, Questionable Practices, and a couple of random Small Beer titles.
And! Maple syrup! Local chocolate (if I can find it!). Kale! (Ok, probably not kale.) And more and more local goodies until the box is full..

Starting Bid: $25

Notes: [admin note: priority mail means US only]

Jelly Babies!

Item Name & Description: Up to 500g weight of Jelly Babies (either on their own or as part of a care package of other British confectionery)

Starting bid: $25

Notes: Please note postage from the UK to the US is included, hence the rather large minimum bid required. I will make up the 500g weight in discussion with the winning bidder – you can have it in jelly babies or a mixture of British sweeties (or anything else within reason that takes your culinary fancy – Henderson’s relish? Earl Grey teabags?) Non-perishables only, obviously.

Pillow Cookies

Item Name & Description: Pillow cookies are a fantastic cookie, where you take a base cookie (like, say, some nomtastic sweet and salty chocolate chip cookies) and wrap the dough around a delicious doughy concoction (like brownies, blondies, white chocolate brownies, or pumpkin brownies). Then: BAKING! You see them all the time at local county fairs — they’re the huuuuge, round cookies with the moist, soft, chocolatey center. These are ginormous cookies — so instead of a full dozen, I normally make 10 at a time. I’m offering to make 10 pillow cookies (combo of your choice), and mail them to you usps priority. NEW THIS YEAR: I’ve found a recipe for srichacha peanut butter cookies that I am DYING to try with a dark chocolate brownie. If the bidding goes over 30, I’ll include a batch of this experiment if you want — or another experimental recipe, since I actually have a queue.

Starting Bid: $15

Notes: If I can’t make something, I’ll work with you for a substitute. I make fantastic cookies! It’ll probably take me a week to put together the ingredients, but I’ll send it USPS priority and let you know when I ship.

Also: I can’t do a multi-type of cookie-mailer. The world would explode with awesome if two types of pillow cookies existed in one box. Also, the flavors might blend.
