The complete Inda series by Sherwood Smith – signed

Item Name and Description:

This is the complete four-volume Inda series by Sherwood Smith:

  1. Inda
  2. The Fox
  3. King’s Shield
  4. Treason’s Shore

Sherwood was good enough to offer this set in Jim Hines’ auctions benefiting Transgender Michigan; I won them and read them. I like them but sadly shelf space constraints dictate that they be sold on to benefit another worthy organization.

The books are all first printing hardcovers. They been read once each, carefully, with the jackets off. The jackets have rubbing marks, minor scratches, and edge nicks. Sherwood signed all four books with no personalization. The picture shows the actual books being sold.

Starting Bid: $80

Shipping: United States only – anywhere else would be prohibitively expensive

Other Notes: n/a

Bidding is now open and will end Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. (time zone conversions, countdown), EXCEPT that last-minute bidding on an item will extend the bidding for that item. More information.

The Dagger and the Coin series by Daniel Abraham

Item Name and Description:

This is the complete five-volume fantasy series by Daniel Abraham, consisting of these books:

  1. The Dragon’s Path
  2. The King’s Blood
  3. The Tyrant’s Law
  4. The Widow’s House
  5. The Spider’s War

The first three volumes were an offering from the publisher in a Con or Bust auction a few years ago; they are signed. I purchased the other two volumes new.

All five have been read once, carefully. They are in good shape but have typical edgewear for trade paperbacks. The picture shows the actual books being sold.

Starting Bid: $40

Shipping: United States only – anywhere else would be prohibitively expensive

The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi trade paperback (signed)

Item Name and Description: A signed trade paperback of The Quantum Thief by . Donated by Tor Books.

Jean le Flambeur gets up in the morning and has to kill himself before his other self can kill him first. Just another day in the Dilemma Prison. Rescued by the mysterious Mieli and her flirtatious spacecraft, Jean is taken to the Oubliette, the Moving City of Mars, where time is a currency, memories are treasures, and a moon-turned-singularity lights the night. Meanwhile, investigator Isidore Beautrelet, called in to investigate the murder of a chocolatier, finds himself on the trail of an arch-criminal, a man named le Flambeur….

Indeed, in his many lives, the entity called Jean le Flambeur has been a thief, a confidence artist, a posthuman mind-burglar, and more. His origins are shrouded in mystery, but his deeds are known throughout the Heterarchy, from breaking into the vast Zeusbrains of the Inner System to stealing rare Earth antiques from the aristocrats of Mars. In his last exploit, he managed the supreme feat of hiding the truth about himself from the one person in the solar system hardest to hide from: himself. Now he has the chance to regain himself in all his power―in exchange for finishing the one heist he never quite managed.

Hannu Rajaniemi’s The Quantum Thief is a breathtaking joyride through the solar system several centuries hence, a world of marching cities, ubiquitous public-key encryption, people who communicate via shared memory, and a race of hyper-advanced humans who originated as an MMORPG guild. But for all its wonders, The Quantum Thief is also a story powered by very human motives of betrayal, jealousy, and revenge. It is a stunning debut.

One of Library Journal’s Best SF/Fantasy Books of 2011

Starting Bid: $10.

Shipping: Worldwide.

Other Notes: This is being shipped by the publisher, so inscription to a particular person is not available.

Fonda Lee’s JADE CITY (signed galley)

Item Name and Description: a signed galley (advance reading copy) of Fonda Lee’s JADE CITY, forthcoming, November 2017, donated by Orbit.

JADE CITY is a gripping Godfather-esque saga of intergenerational blood feuds, vicious politics, magic, and kungfu.

The Kaul family is one of two crime syndicates that control the island of Kekon. It’s the only place in the world that produces rare magical jade, which grants those with the right training and heritage superhuman abilities.

The Green Bone clans of honorable jade-wearing warriors once protected the island from foreign invasion–but nowadays, in a bustling post-war metropolis full of fast cars and foreign money, Green Bone families like the Kauls are primarily involved in commerce, construction, and the everyday upkeep of the districts under their protection.

When the simmering tension between the Kauls and their greatest rivals erupts into open violence in the streets, the outcome of this clan war will determine the fate of all Green Bones and the future of Kekon itself.

The New York Times bestselling author of the Sandman Slim series delivers a wonderful stand-alone dark fantasy in which a young girl is caught between the worlds of the living and the dead.

After her father’s funeral, Zoe moved to the big city with her mother to start over. But change always brings trials, and life in the city is not so easy. Money is tight, and Zoe’s only escape, as has always been the case, is in her dreams—a world apart from her troubled real life where she can spend time with her closest companion: her lost brother, Valentine.

But something or someone has entered their dreamworld uninvited. And a chance encounter at a used record store, where the vinyl holds not music but lost souls, has opened up a portal to the world of the restless dead. It’s here that the shop’s strange proprietor offers Zoe the chance to commune with her dead father. The price? A lock of hair. Then a tooth. Then . . .
