The Edge of Worlds by Martha Wells (trade paperback)

Item Name and Description: One copy of The Edge of Worlds by Martha Wells, in trade paperback, published by Night Shade Books. This is the second to last book in the Books of the Raksura series.

An expedition of groundlings from the Empire of Kish have traveled through the Three Worlds to the Indigo Cloud court of the Raksura, shape-shifting creatures of flight that live in large family groups. The groundlings have found a sealed ancient city at the edge of the shallow seas, near the deeps of the impassable Ocean. They believe it to be the last home of their ancestors and ask for help getting inside. But the Raksura fear it was built by their own distant ancestors, the Forerunners, and the last sealed Forerunner city they encountered was a prison for an unstoppable evil.

29-inch Blue and Pink Plaid Underbust Fashion Corset

Item Name and Description:

This is a homemade pink and blue plaid underbust corset/swiss waist. It is perfect for adding some bold colors to a punk, Rennie, or steampunk outfit. This is a minimally-boned, plastic-boned, costume-type piece. It is NOT intended to offer any waist reduction or drastically change your posture. It is light and easy to wear. It is 29 inches long, which means it would be ideal for a 30-32 inch waist, but could work for a slightly larger waist with looser lacing or a slightly smaller waist over a bulky shirt. The front is 8 1/4 inches tall and the back is 4 1/2 inches tall. I didn’t have any matching laces, so I will include white ribbon for lacing, which can be replaced by the new owner with whatever they prefer.

Additional pictures here: one, two.

Starting Bid: $20

Shipping: Worldwide

Other Notes: Constructed in a household owning cats, dogs, horses, goats, etc. I’ve tried to keep it away from hair, but a few have probably made their way on anyway! If you have any fur allergies, let me know when you provide your shipping address and I will wash it directly before packaging it up.

Con or Bust is looking for donated WorldCon memberships

Con or Bust is looking for at least one donated attending membership to WorldCon 75. If you have one that you will be unable to use, and would like to transfer it to Con or Bust to be donated to a fan of color/non-white fan, please drop an email to [email protected], and I will arrange the transfer.

(If there’s more than one person out there, we can arrange to offer your membership for a certain period of time, after which you can reclaim possession of it to sell or otherwise dispose of. But demand for donated memberships to WorldCons generally, and WorldCons outside North America specifically, is always pretty high, for what that’s worth.)

Thanks, and please spread the word!

Edit: one kind person has offered a membership, so that’s the immediate need met, but as I said above, there will almost certainly be more demand!

Custom chocolate order, your choice!

Item Name and Description:

I’m a geeky artisan chocolatier, licensed in Massachusetts. I’ll make you one batch of whatever your heart desires. My specialties are wildly varied flavors and geeky molds, and I use top-quality chocolate. Like truffles? How about peppermint, or earl grey, or ginger pear brandy? Bars? I can do classic flavors (puffed rice? mint chocolate cookie?) or the highly unusual (curry coconut lime? pumpkin pie spice and candied ginger? decaf chocolate espresso beans?). I also do some custom marzipans (plain, liqueured, mixed nut) and chocolate-covered caramels. For a general sense, you can browse my website at darkmatterchocolatelaboratory.com — I don’t do a good job at keeping it up to date, and the selection there is a fraction of what I offer, but it’ll get you started on ideas.

One batch is not small. For bars or molded chocolates, you’re looking at five+ pounds of chocolate, and the molded chocolates are shelf-stable and keep their flavor for at least a year when stored at a cool room temperature in a ziploc bag or similar. For truffles, you’re looking at about 150 in a batch; marzipans and caramels are 90-100. One batch is one flavor, or one set of easily compatible flavors (e.g., plain milk, milk with cookies, mint milk with cookies).

And if you want something really custom, add about $300 to your bid and I’ll make you a mold, too.

“Mad chocolate genius” — Scott Lynch

Starting Bid: 125

Shipping: Shipping in the US is included; I’m willing to ship internationally as well, but I am not an expert in international customs laws to confirm that it’ll get there safely, and would appreciate it if you’d bid higher accordingly.

Other Notes: Because chocolate melts easily, this item will be made and delivered in fall or winter, with some flexibility in scheduling. If you desperately need the chocolates for a summer event, there will be an additional shipping charge.

Heroine Complex by Sarah Kuhn

Item Name and Description: One of two trade paperbacks of Heroine Complex by Sarah Kuhn. Donated by DAW Books.

Asian-American superheroines Evie Tanaka and Aveda Jupiter protect San Francisco from perilous threats in the first book in Sarah Kuhn’s snarky and smart fantasy trilogy • “The superheroine we’ve been waiting for.” Seanan McGuire

Being a superheroine is hard. Working for one is even harder.

Evie Tanaka is the put-upon personal assistant to Aveda Jupiter, her childhood best friend and San Francisco’s most beloved superheroine. She’s great at her job—blending into the background, handling her boss’s epic diva tantrums, and getting demon blood out of leather pants.

Unfortunately, she’s not nearly as together when it comes to running her own life, standing up for herself, or raising her tempestuous teenage sister, Bea.

But everything changes when Evie’s forced to pose as her glamorous boss for one night, and her darkest secret comes out: she has powers, too. Now it’s up to her to contend with murderous cupcakes, nosy gossip bloggers, and supernatural karaoke battles—all while juggling unexpected romance and Aveda’s increasingly outrageous demands. And when a larger threat emerges, Evie must finally take charge and become a superheroine in her own right…or see her city fall to a full-on demonic invasion.

Starting Bid: $5.

Shipping: worldwide.

Other Notes: Two copies available; top two bids win. Consecutive bids must still increase.
