Hand-Painted Bad Wolf T-Shirt

Item Name & Description: I will make you a hand-painted t-shirt of my TARDIS with Bad Wolf graffiti design, in white paint on a blue shirt. Your choice of adult “men’s” style cotton t-shirt size, up to 2X. I’ve included a picture of a finished t-shirt as an example; because the shirt is hand-painted, yours may look slightly different than the one pictured here. (If you do not want the splatter-painted effect, just let me know. I can do the shirt without it).

Handspun, Handwoven Scarf

Item Name & Description: I will weave for you, from yarn I’ve spun myself, a scarf of roughly 7 inches by 72-90 inches, not including six-inch twisted fringe. I will work with you to design the scarf according to your specifications, especially in terms of color. However, it will have to be wool or a wool blend, and because I have a simple rigid-heddle loom, there are certain patterns I can’t weave.

Below are three photos to show you some of my work. The first is a log-cabin weave, a very popular pattern, woven from handspun.

(Click all images to enlarge.)

The second is a lover’s-knot pattern, essentially a larger version of houndstooth (I prefer weaving houndstooth, but can do lover’s knot if you like it better). This particular scarf isn’t woven from handspun, but could be!

The third photo is a plainweave scarf woven from handspun, showing the natural variegation possible with handspun yarn. It can be lovely even without a pattern like the two above.

Other patterns (plaids, pick-up patterns, etc.) are possible, but I’m showing these to give you ideas!

Starting Bid: $50, plus shipping

Notes: I’m a college professor, so my time’s limited until May. It would ordinarily take me three weeks to a month to complete a project like this, but delays are not only possible but likely during the semester. I live in Reno, so if you’re in northern NV or CA, I may be able to deliver; heck, you can come to my house and watch me work!

Custom Hat in Variegated Wool Blend

Item Name & Description: Custom Hat in Variegated Wool Blend

The auction winner will get one hat made to any measurements (adult, child, baby (heck, for baby sizes I’d make two)) from their choice of the yarns shown below. Both are Bollicine Maxi, a worsted-weight blend of 70% wool and 30% acrylic that is next-to-skin soft. The pastel has pink, lavender, and pale to light blue; the grey has charcoal, medium grey, white, and a very subtle lavender/almost-grey.

These variegated yarns will look best in a plain knit stitch rather than any fancy texture. I can do the winner’s choice of ear-warming methods: a deep fold-up ribbing, earflaps with or without ties, a helmet style that comes down over the ears and back of the neck, or a beanie with none of the above. More technical details available upon request.

Starting Bid: $10 US

Notes: Yarn has lived in a non-smoking household with one dog; the finished item will get a bath just before shipping. I will mail anywhere in North America at no additional cost; for other continents I would ask the auction winner for an additional donation equal to shipping costs. Allow two to three weeks for knitting after you send me your measurements.

Custom Hat in Washable Wool

Item Name & Description: Custom Hat in Washable Wool

The auction winner will get one hat made to any measurements from their choice of the yarns shown below. All are diVe Zenith, a machine-washable worsted-weight wool that is next-to-skin soft. There is enough purple and enough dark brown to make a solid hat out of either; other colors would have to be accent colors only.

This yarn will show cables and other fancy stitch textures well; I can also do color stripes and/or contrast ribbing (although stranded colorwork or intarsia will not be suitable). I can do the winner’s choice of ear-warming methods: a deep fold-up ribbing, earflaps with or without ties, a helmet style that comes down over the ears and back of the neck, or a beanie with none of the above. More technical details available upon request.

Starting Bid: $15 US

Notes: Yarn has lived in a non-smoking household with one dog; the finished item will get laundered just before shipping. I will mail anywhere in North America at no additional cost; for other continents I would ask the auction winner for an additional donation equal to shipping costs. Allow approximately four to six weeks for knitting after we work out a pattern.

Wardrobe refresher by Ekaterina Sedia (three available)

Item Name & Description: Wardrobe Refresher

[Posted on behalf of the offeror.]

As some of you know, besides writing I enjoy fashion blogging, and am obsessive about following street style, finding new and strange places to shop, sustainable fashion, and vintage. And I love shopping for other people and making mood boards! So this is the offer: the winner will email me their needs and preferences as well as the budget, and in return you will get either a shopping list or a Pinterest board (your choice) of great items chosen from a variety of online retailers, from Etsy to indie boutiques to more mainstream retailers. I will custom-pick your pieces to suit your lifestyle, budgetary needs and ethical concerns, and in case of Pinterest board will also supplement it with styling suggestions and street style photos for inspiration. Whether you need a whole new wardrobe or just one thing for a special occasion, let me do the digging. All genders and sizes welcome!

Here is a pinterest board I did previously for someone who wanted some styling ideas on androgynous dressing and menswear, so it can give people some ideas regarding the end product.

Starting Bid: $50. Three available, top three consecutive bids win (edited for clarity 2013-02-23).

New, with Sichel’s tag.

Camel/Silk Neckwarmer

Item Name & Description: Camel/Silk Neckwarmer:

Last year, I had the good fortune to win an auction of camel/silk yarn handspun by SairaAli: (link here, scroll down to the second photo). The minute I got my hands on this lovely stuff, I knew it needed to be knitted into something cuddly that would be in direct contact with my skin, in a textured stitch that would let it be its fluffy self. Pictured below is the resulting neckwarmer, which you cannot have because it is mine, all mine.

However, there is enough yarn left for me to make you your *very own* super-soft neckwarmer. I’ll use what I’ve learned from mine, and make yours slightly wider and shorter (roughly 6” x 22”, or 15 cm x 56 cm), and place the buttons a little differently so the neckwarmer stays put better. I doubt I can get more of the exact same copper buttons; the auction winner will have a chance to express an opinion about what style of button I should shop for.
